Rene Craig -Prior to becoming a fitness professional, I was an overweight, out of shape, stay at home mom who led a sedentary lifestyle.  I didn't know how to start, much less maintain, an exercise program or a healthy lifestyle.  My fitness journey began 14 years ago when I made an appointment with a dietician in order to lose weight.  On the very first visit she informed me that for weight loss to be permanent, exercise was a must.  By making exercise a part of my daily life along with healthy lifestyle changes I took control of my health and fitness.  A passion for fitness was discovered and a dream to help others achieve their fitness goals was born. Over the years I have taught group fitness, yoga, pilates, body sculpting and cardio heart rate training as well as personal training.

Today, I enjoy helping others reach their fitness goals through pilates, personal training and phone coaching.  I receive great satisfaction when my clients reach their goals, whether it is improving race times, losing weight or relieving stress and feeling more energized because they have made fitness a part of their daily lives.

Chelsea Lasater-Gregg-Today pilates is as much a part of my daily routine as is prayer, meditation and brushing my teeth.  The mind body connection and physical strength that I've established thru regular pilates and yoga practice has helped me to reconnect with myself from the inside out.  I simply cannot imagine going thru my day without practicing one or the other or both.  Yes, it makes that big a difference in my overall well being.

When I first discovered pilates four years ago I was out of shape, over weight and frustrated with the way I felt about myself.  My self esteem was at an all time low and I wanted to change.  I began working one on one with a certified pilates instructor on the reformer and other pilates equipment three times a week.  I was amazed by the transformation that began.  My muscles lengthened and toned in my arms and legs, my abdominals strengthened and lost that jiggle, my posture improved and an inner feeling of self worth and confidence began to grow within.  Right about this time in my life many other changes were transpiring and I found myself questioning my satisfaction with (or lack there of) my established career in health care.  With changes all around me I asked myself, "What are you passionate about? it was not performing medical record chart audits and reviews for hospitals.  It was apparent I wanted to work with people not paper and I wanted to help them help themselves.  Training to be a STOTT PILATES® certified instructor seemed like a perfect fit.  I trained in St. Paul, MN from January 2006 until September 2006 and have enjoyed teaching pilates ever since.

I look forward to meeting you and showing you how pilates can help you reach your personal goals.  Pilates is a positive part of my life today and I'd like to share that with you.

Cindy Rose- There are some of us, who because of spinal issues, or other issues within our bodies, have just learned to "accept" the misalignment, pain, decreased range of motion, and stiffness. This way of thinking seems to bring about an attitude of  “this is just the way it’s going to be for the rest of my life,” and so we resolve to “live with it.” But then again, we want to be physically active to the end. We don’t want to have to give up any of the things we enjoy, such as snow skiing, horse back riding, walking/running, swimming, etc..

It was in the spring of 2000 that Pilates was suggested as a means of dealing with some spinal issues I was having at the time. Actually I have had back/spinal issues all my life and so was interested in this thing called “Pilates.” After tracking down a referred instructor and attending my first “private” I was immediately encouraged, for the first time in my life and I knew this “Pilates” could actually help my condition. Other fitness programs had ended up causing injury, but Pilates was my answer! As a student, I have seen the Pilates method work in my own body, bringing increased mobility, strength, flexibility and tone.

I had to share this with others who I knew who were going through similar circumstances. My instructor, at the time encouraged me to get the certification that was needed in order to be able to teach mat classes. As soon as I got involved in the certification program, I knew I couldn’t stop with mat certification. I had to learn all that was possible concerning Pilates and so the adventure keeps going. The passion continues to build as I see results in the clients with whom I get to work. The most satisfaction comes from seeing and hearing the “before” and “after” stories and seeing people become encouraged and excited about daily, functional living again. They see and feel the results of this thing we call “Pilates.” Their doctors/physical therapists see the results and recommend they keep it up! I look at Pilates, for the individual, as an investment in their personal health. If we want future healthy and strong, active lifestyles, we need to be investing everyday towards that end and Pilates is the answer as far as I am concerned.

Shirley Hilton- In 1998 I walked into my first pilates class and immediately fell in love with the breath and movement.  I was approached by my instructor to study, certify and teach.  I truly wanted to share this feeling and program, so I started a mentorship program with Alisha L Cohen and certified with her June of 2002 and immediately started teaching.  I moved to Oklahoma and continued to study certifying with PhyicalMind Institue Mat 1 /Feb. 2004  and then continuing April of 2004 with Advanced and Standing Pilates.   But I still wanted more knowledge and educaton, so I completed STOTT PILATES Matwork October of 2006 and recently completed the Reformer workshops in 2008.  My goal is to complete Level 1 STOTT PILATES Training and to always continue to learn and teach.  I have attended numerous PMA Conferences/Pilates on Tour conferences and strive to soak up all the knowledge I can about this wonderful movement called Pilates.

Diane Stockton - My love of fitness and dance coalesced when I discovered dance aerobics
after graduating from college.  Within a year of taking classes, I became a group fitness instructor and the journey began.  Continuing education courses and workshops exposed me to other forms of exercise for wellness including weight training, toning, Yoga, and Pilates.  But it was Pilates that really hooked me.   Maybe it was because Pilates included benefits from all the other exercise disciplines.  Muscles are strengthened and lengthened, core strength is developed, and the body becomes more toned as a result.   The real attraction however, was the emphasis on form acquired by finding and then recruiting only the necessary muscles to perform a certain movement.  It changed the way I moved, felt, and sensed my body in space.  Certification in Mat Pilates with The Physical Mind Institute was followed by certification in Reformer work with Power House Pilates.  My passion for more knowledge was fulfilled by the opportunity to acquire another certification in Mat work with Stott Pilates and then to complete a Reformer training workshop with Stott.  I plan to continue training in Stability Chair, Ladder Barrel and the Cadillac.  The more I learn about Pilates, the more I realize I have to learn.  That’s what makes it wonderful! It is an exciting journey that is never boring and that never ends.
